A native of The Netherlands, Leo’s passion for productivity is focused on improving small company access to commercialization capital.
In addition to his advisory role at Clariti, he currently serves as Senior Advisor at Mountain Pacific Group, Senior Fellow at the C.D. Howe Institute, Advisory Board member of Blue Pier Toronto, and a member of the Board of Sustainable Development Technology Canada.
Over the last 40 years, Leo has worked with eight financial institutions based in Canada, the U.S., Japan, and Australia. He started his career at the Bank of Canada in 1975, and then held multiple Chief Economist positions, beginning with Chase Econometrics Canada, moving to Crown Life Insurance, and Nomura Securities Canada.
For nearly a decade, Leo served as a Senior Vice President at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, where he was responsible for long-term investment strategy, risk management, and real return assets. He was also an advisor to Norway’s Pension Plan and on the Investment Committee of the Dutch pension fund APG.
Leo holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin.
