Rik brings more than 30 years of experience in senior management roles to Clariti’s advisory board, including with banks, brokerage firms, and securities exchanges. 

From 2011–15, Rik was CEO of CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank, a full-service bank that operates in 18 countries, with US$12 billion in assets and market capitalization of more than US$2 billion. Rik was responsible for the development and execution of a multi-faceted plan that resulted in the turnaround of the bank’s operating and financial performance.

Rik joined CIBC in 2008 as Managing Director and Head of Cash Equities and Capital Markets Sales. During his time in this role, CIBC became recognized as the Canadian leader in equity trading and equity capital markets, and its equity market share tripled.

Prior to joining CIBC, Rik held several senior positions with the TMX Group, including Co-CEO and President. He also managed the TMX listings and trading businesses.

Rik’s background includes 17 years at several investment firms, including Research Capital, BZW Canada, Deacon Morgan McEwen Easson, and Jones Heward. Prior to transitioning to the advisory board, Rik was Managing Director and Head, Financial Services and Strategic Advisory with Clariti.

In addition to serving on Clariti’s advisory board and board of directors, Rik serves as a non-executive director on the boards of Sagicor Bank Jamaica (the third largest bank in Jamaica), Anaergia Inc. (a world leader in organic waste to energy) and MacCormick Inc. (social impact investing data and services).
